John David “JD” Reed focuses his practice on litigation involving private equity, corporate law, finance litigation, and commercial business disputes, business partnership disputes, construction defects, DTPA/consumer protection, employment, breach of fiduciary duty, non-compete, eminent domain, and Anti-SLAPP.
JD received his law degree from South Texas College of Law in 2010 with honors.
Prior to that, he attended University of Texas at Austin, where he received a double Bachelor of Arts degree in both History and Philosophy.

- Representing oil and gas investment client related to financing and equity buyout gone wrong.
- Dispositive motion practice and expedited appeal practice related to TCPA
- Second chaired defense of healthcare facility in week long final arbitration hearing
- Obtained a $1.77 million unanimous jury verdict and judgment in partnership/business dispute in 2014.
- Drafted pleadings, dispositive motion practice, and argument in hostile corporate takeover litigation, involving financial credit swaps, backdoor proxy solicitations, and board of director manipulations.
- Successfully defended client in partner dispute, obtained summary judgment disposing of $22 mill in alleged claims, which was upheld at Court of Appeals.
- Prosecuted fraud and statutory claims related to private placement memorandum offering.
- Prosecuted and defended real estate and construction defect cases, involving real estate and finance liens.
- Tried commercial and business litigation matters to final jury verdict as first and second chair attorney.
- Extensive knowledge and practice with the Texas Citizens Participation Act.
- Successfully defended financial institution from consumer claims over financial reporting.
- Taken and defended multiple depositions in various multi-party complex commercial litigation cases.
- Extensive motion and oral argument practice concerning dispositive, discovery, and other pre-trial hearings in high media exposure cases.
- Prosecuted and defended real estate and construction defect cases, involving real estate and finance liens.
